A finely cast and chased mid 19th century, French, Grand Tour bronze bust depicting Athena, Goddess of war. Shown with flowing hair tied at the back, a helmet topped with a wrythen snake, looking straight ahead, the square stepped base cast with a leafy border and supported on a substantial Sienna marble base. Base with nibbles to marble edges.

Antique Louis XVI Ormolu & Marble Candelabra

A fine pair of bronze, ormolu & marble, mid 19th century French candelabra in the Louis XVI style. The patinated bronze putti seated cross legged on a naturalistic base, each supporting a pair of ormolu candle arms. The circular griotte stepped marble plinth bases with ormolu acanthus and bead cast mounts. Superb original matt & burnished gilding and patination. Discreetly drilled for electricity.

Antique George V Ormolu Mounted Marble Table Lamp

A fine quality George V ormolu mounted marble table lamp. The Breche Violet turned body mounted with rams heads to the sides, an acanthus cast collar above with bayonet fitting, the base with tapering socle and laurel wreath band standing on a square marble plinth base. Rewired. Original gilding.

Antique Pair of Ormolu Mounted Marble Ewers After Claude Galle

An impressive pair of late 19th century ormolu mounted white marble ewers after Claude Gallé. Of elongated ovoid form, the marble bodies mounted around the collar and base with stylised palmettes & acanthus leaves, centred around the middle with a scrolling band. The winged maiden handle, terminating in a cherub mask, clasping the ewer rim, the spout with a bearded mask. The whole standing on a spreading socle with square plinth base and paw feet.

Antique French Gilt Bronze & Marble Louis XV Style Aiguières Lamps Attributed to Paul Sormani

A fine pair of late 19th century French Louis XV style gilt bronze mounted verde marmo aiguières, later converted for table lamps. Each elongated reeded turned marble body mounted with finely cast and chased acanthus leaf and bulrush rims, looped handle and foot in the Louis XV rococo style. The mounts retaining their original matt and burnished gilding.

These Vases can be attributed to Paul-Charles Sormani. For a similar pair stamped ‘PS’ see Sotheby’s Lot 34 & Lot 35 Property from a distinguished Private Asian Collector.

These ewers are closely related to a pair of Louis XV gilt bronze mounted lacquer vases, by Jean-Claude Duplessis (1699-1774) housed in the Wallace Collection.

A pair of early 19th century ormolu mounted marble cassolettes in the style of Matthew Boulton. The pinatum finial inverting to a candle sconce above an ovoid marble body, flanked to either side by rams masks with hooped rings, the flared socle with square plinth base and ball feet. Regilded.

A Charles X, French, ormolu, bronze & Griotte Rouge marble mantel clock and garniture. The gilt urn surmount above a marble case with stepped plinth and pediment, the front with laurel wreath motifs surrounding a Greek key bezel. The side bronze tazzas with gilt handles and stepped marble plinths.
The dial with painted Roman chapters, the eight day twin barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel striking on a bell.

A fine & impressive French gilt & patinated bronze clock in the Louis XVI style after the 18th century form by Robert Osmond. The bronze vase-shaped case in the ‘goût Grec’ manner, flanked by satyr masks with entwined horns, the front and sides hung with swags of garrya, the flared socle on a stepped white marble base. The enamel dial signed ‘Raingo Fres A Paris’, with twin barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike to bell, the backplate numbered ‘1619’. Stamped ‘H.Picard’ and stencilled ‘Mercier Ainé’.

The patinated bronze figure of Cupid arming, his quivers at his feet, standing above a circular enamelled dial painted with arabic numerals and floral swags, inset a fluted case hung with floral swags and standing on a marble plinth with toupie feet. The eight day movement with brocot suspension, striking the hour and half hour on a bell. Pendulum and movement numbered 1911.

Antique French Mantel Clock by Eugene Hazart after Brecourt

A late 19th century, French, Louis XVI style gilt bronze mounted carrera marble mantel clock, the case signed Eug Hazart. The ovoid body flanked by dolphins surrounded by reed & oak leafs with a fountain to the top, the waisted socle beneath standing on a stepped square plinth. The white enamel dial signed Julien Béliard A Paris, with pierced gilt hands. The twin spring driven barrel movement rack striking the hour/half hour on a bell, back plate numbered ‘18899’, makers stamp of a ship and initials ‘JLF’ & ‘EMS’.
