A fine pair of 19th century, French, gilt bronze candlesticks in the form of young satyrs. The sconces modelled as a woven basket overflowing with fruit and flowers, held aloft by a standing young horned satyr, looking down with his hands on his fat belly. The square stepped plinth base with acanthus leaf and berried border. Retaining the original mercury wash gilding. The base undersides with cast ’H’. Very minor wear to gilding.
