Antique Rococo Ormolu Firescreen

An attractive French ormolu firescreen in the rococo style, from the first half of the 20th century. The original mesh mounted with three sprays of flowers, unusually cast issuing from the screen, inset a rococo scrolling acanthus cast frame, with triform feet. Retaining the original ormolu finish.

Antique Pair of Bronzes Mercury & Ceres After Giambologna Grand Tour styleAntique

‘Mercury & Ceres’ after Giambologna (1529-1608)

A very fine pair of late 19th century continental “Grand Tour” style bronzes after the antique. The figure of Mercury depicted holding a Caduceus in hand, Ceres wrapped in flowing robes, a pair of shears in one hand. Both raised on a blowing Zephyr with turned rouge marble plinths, square black Belgium marble bases and a cast bronze band of Cherubs depicting the Arts. Both in good original condition. Very minor chips to bases.

Antique French Ormolu Mounted Gueridon

A late 19th century, French, mahogany & ormolu mounted gueridon in the manner of Henry Dasson. The circular top with radiating veneers encircled by a gilt bronze rim, the panelled sides with scrolling ormolu acanthus friezes supported by four turned fluted columns headed by ribbon tied floral swags. The base with deep lattice sides, a device used by Dasson, standing on turned legs with toupie feet.

Antique Pair of Regency Candlesticks

A fine pair of Regency Period bronze & ormolu candlesticks. Each with a single candle sconce cast with a leafy border above a shallow bronze urn supported by three monopodia, headed by rams masks with scrolling horns & ending in hoof feet. The circular stepped plinth bases with pinatum finial, a Greek Key band through the centre and finely cast spreading base.

Each in the form of a classically dressed maiden supporting a single candle sconce with original bobeche, and palmette leaf collar. The turned white marble plinths with rope twist border. The sconce discretely drilled as once wired.

An early 20th century sand cast bronze animalier of a German Shepherd dog by Louis Riché. The finely detailed figure lying down on a naturalistic base with rich green/brown/golden patina. Cast by the Jollet & Cie foundry.
In 1906 The Maison Colin4585 changed it’s name to Jollet & Cie, however it also kept it’s original name adding the wording “Ancienne Maison Collin” on all their castings until 1911.

A fine quality George V ormolu mounted marble table lamp. The Breche Violet turned body mounted with rams heads to the sides, an acanthus cast collar above with bayonet fitting, the base with tapering socle and laurel wreath band standing on a square marble plinth base. Rewired. Original gilding.

Antique French Porcelain & Ormolu Napoleon Miniature

A fine quality French oval porcelain plaque depicting Napoleon Bonaparte, inset the original mercury gilded cast bronze frame. The rectangular centre painted with Napoleon seated astride a chair on a Battle Field, his troops standing behind. The silvered ground with sprays of gilded laurel leaves above the ‘Legion d’Honneur’. The oval centre cast with a snake depicting the eternal cycle, within a rectangular frame cast with waterleaf and beaded border.

Antique Ormolu Mounted Table Bijouterie Vitrine

A late 19th century mahogany & ormolu mounted table vitrine of French influence. Of kidney form, the shaped bevelled glazed top with a fine marquetry border, opening to a relined interior. The shaped sides panelled with tulipwood and ormolu beading, standing on four fluted legs headed by rosettes and ending in cabriole shaped lower legs with sabots, united by a shaped platform. The mounts regilded. Although of French design, the locks and hinges of English manufacture.

A late 19th century ormolu mounted mahogany vitrine table from the Belle époque period in the Louis XVI style, attributed to Francois Linke. Of oval form the bevelled glazed top opening to a relined interior with curved glazed sides, supported by four fluted columns standing on cabriole legs and united by a platform stretcher. The whole dressed with gilded bronze.

Antique Pair of Elkington & Co Ormolu Candlesticks after Rundell, Bridge & Rundell

Elkington & Co
A lovely pair of early Victorian ormolu and parcel silvered swan candlesticks after a 1834 design by William Bateman II for Rundell, Bridge and Rundell. The leafy acanthus nozzles with floral drip pans on corresponding narrow foliate stems flanked by three seated swans, on shaped tripartite bases decorated with various seashells. Retaining the original gilt & silver finishes, with superb chasing details. Hallmarks ‘Elkington & Co’ date code letter ‘O’, 1853.
