Maples & Co

A George V walnut ‘Grandmother’ clock. The square hood with shaped glazed door flanked by barley twist columns, mounted with ormolu, above a finely figured case with walnut cross banding to each panel. The door with carved central roundel, and standing on a plinth base. The four pillar eight day twin train movement striking the hour & half hour on a gong. The engraved brass dial with silvered chapter ring, strike/silent dial to top and subsidiary seconds dial, the four corners with cherub spandrels.

A late 19th century, Victorian, satinwood serpentine fronted display cabinet, inlaid with narrow kingwood crossbandings throughout. The moulded cornice above a slim frieze inlaid with trellis pattern, the curved glazed  centre door enclosing a relined interior with glass shelves, flanked by glazed sides, above a single cupboard door. The six square section tapering legs ending in spade feet.

A 19th century, continental, patinated bronze figure of mercury in flight after Giambologna. The well cast figure standing on the blowing wind, Zephyr, a caduceus in one hand the other outstretched to the sky. The rouge turned marble plinth with ebonised square base.

An Edwardain Mahogany display cabinet. Of bowed form, the solid mahogany top with arched fan inlaid pediment, above a frieze inlaid with leafy swags and a single bowed glazed door opening to a relined interior with glass shelves, the sides with bowed glazing. The base with three floral inlaid panels and standing on square section legs ending in spade feet.

A Regency giltwood and gesso pier mirror. The rectangular plate with deep bevelling, inset a bead and rope-twist border with lion masks at each corner, the stepped pediment with stiff leaf carved frieze. Label to reverse T Rushworth & Son, Durham.

A pair of early 19th century, French Empire, patinated and gilt bronze mounted urns. Of flared urn shape the rims with gilt leaf mounded border, above twin lion mask handles and fluted socles, standing on square stepped plinth bases, centred with a gilt basket of flowers. Original green patination to bronze and mercury gilding.

Turi Weinmann (1883-1950)

An early 20th century continental bronze figure of a kneeling young woman, her hands cupped in front of her, and supported by a marble plinth. Dark patination.

A late 19th Century, French, kingwood and gilt bronze mounted bijouterie table. The serpentine shaped rising top with bevelled glazed panel, kingwood border and gilt bronze edge, opening to a relined silk interior with four serpentine glazed sides. The base with four cabriole legs ending in gilt sabots.

A pair of Victorian gilt bronze perfume burners in the Gothic taste. The pierced removable lids with grape vine border and surmounted by winged angels, above stems cast with rams heads and octagonal bases. Retaining the original gilding.

‘Psyche’ & ‘Pandore’

A pair of French bronze figure from the second half of the 19th century. Each well cast seated figure dressed in classical robes, Pandora with box clasped in her hand, Psyche deep in thought, on stepped shaped bases. Original patination. Signed A Schoenewerk Sc to sides, with titles to front.

 Schoenewerk was a student of David d’Angers, , and was named a Chevalier of the French Legion of Honour in 1873.

A small figured walnut, Victorian, sutherland table. The rectangular top with twin drop flaps either side, supported by barley twist gate legs, the ends with double barley twist supports and sledge bases. Numbered to base 01748.

A George IV figured and Burr elm wine table. The circular top with ebony line banding above a turned column with parcel ebonised mouldings and a triform platform base with concave sides and standing on turned feet, weighted with lead.

The breche d’alep marble top with pierced gallery, above a rosette mounted frieze with a pair of curved glazed doors below, enclosing adjustable shelves, flanked by fluted columns with turned fluted toupie feet. Original mercury gilded bronze mounts.
