A late 19th century green tortoiseshell and cut brass inlaid clock in the Louis XV style. Of small waisted form, the case finely inlaid to three sides and with original gilt bronze mounts. The eight day Vincenti & Cie movement rack striking the hour and half hour on a bell with Brocot suspension. The gilt dial with enamel cartouche roman numerals. Movement numbered 7897.

The rectangular top with ebonised serpentine moulded edge centred by a marquetry panel depicting a rural scene, opening to reveal a drawer fitted with green stained birds eye maple lidded compartments, above a single drawer, and supported by four turned legs united by an ‘H’ stretcher. Superb original condition throughout.

A French Régence style ormolu mounted cut brass inlaid tortoiseshell bracket clock signed after Martinot, from the late 19th century. The waisted pediment with urn finial above glazed side panels, the finely inlaid case with crisp cast gilt mounts. The eight day twin barrel movement striking the hour & half hour on a bell, with anchor escapement, blued steel hands & starburst pendulum. The ormolu dial with enamel Roman numeral cartouches, signed to enamel plaque below ‘Martinot/Paris’.
