Regency Rosewood Sofa Table

Attributed to Gillows

A George IV rosewood sofa table. The rectangular top with twin drop flap ends, above a pair of mahogany lined frieze drawers, dummy en verso, with replaced brass pulls. The top supported by trestle ends with splay legs ending in cast brass caps and castors. The well figured top, veneered from side to side, a technique Gillows used on their sofa tables.

Satinwood Bijouterie

A late 19th century Satinwood and marquetry inlaid bijouterie cabinet. The serpentine shaped top with bevelled glazed centre surrounded by entwined ribbon and leaf marquetry, opening to reveal a relined interior with shaped glazed sides, and standing on four turned legs inlaid to simulate fluting, and united by a wavy stretcher.

Gilt Bronze & Porcelain Cassolettes

A pair of late 19th century, french, porcelain and gilt bronze mounted cassolettes. Each with a pinatum finial above blue porcelain dome inverting to reveal a gilt candle sconce, supported by triform legs with rams head masks and hoof feet, hung with chains and standing on a stepped circular base with bead decoration. The porcelain body painted with panels of flowers and pink ribbons.  Original gilt.

‘The Uffizi Faun’ Bronze Dancing Faun

After the Antique attributed to Praxiteles

A large Italian patinated bronze figure of the ‘Uffizi’ dancing faun, from the 19th century. The figure standing on an oval base, holding cymbala in his hands, and wears a kroupezion attached to his sandal. Good original patination. Indistinct signature to base of tree trunk.

Louis XV Style Palisander Vitrine

A late 19th century, French, Louis XV style palisander & gilt bronze mounted vitrine. The serpentine shaped top with three quarter gallery, above a scrolling foliate mounted concave frieze with a pair of serpentine glazed doors below, enclosing a glass shelved interior with mirrored back, the sides with curved glass, standing on cabriole legs with shaped stretcher and mirror panelled back. Fine quality oak and mahogany carcass, with well chased and finished bronze mounts. Mounts regilded. The mirror stamped ‘1890’ to the reverse.

Continental Marquetry & kingwood Jardiniere

A Napoleon III, Continental kingwood gilt metal and marquetry jardiniere. The shaped lid with gilt metal gallery, lifting to reveal the original metal liner, above a serpentine shaped body with inlaid floral panels, supported by four curved square section legs united by a shaped platform stretcher with similar inlay. The whole mounted with ormolu. Label to underside of top, indistinctly marked Bruxelles.

Antique Louis XVI Style Marble & Gilt Cassolettes

A pair of Napoleon III white marble and gilt metal mounted cassolettes. The reversible tops with acorn finials and gilt sconce to the inside, above an ovoid body with tripod supports headed by rams masks and hung with floral swags, standing on stepped circular bases with toupie feet. The mounts re-gilded. Stamped 512 PF

Susse Freres

A pair of late 19th century, French, Carrrera marble and gilt bronze mounted urns. Each urn with pinatum finial, above a pierced rim and ovoid body, flanked by acanthus and floral swag handles, supported by a turned socle and square plinth with canted corners. Fine original mercury gilding to mounts.

Signed ‘Susses Fres’ & stamped ‘Bronze’ to the handles.

French Inlaid Card Table

A fine quality late 19th century, French, oeil de vemeil (padouk) card table, possibly by Francois Linke. The rectangular top veneered with padouk and kingwood crossbandings, bordered by inlaid flowers, opening to reveal the original countersunk baize lined interior. The base with panelled frieze inlaid with floral panels and supported by four, rosewood, fluted turned legs ending in toupie feet. The rear legs pulling out to reveal card drawer and support for top. Original gilding to mounts.

Boulle Mantel Clock

Samuel Marti et Cie

A Napoleon III boulle mantel clock. The red tortoiseshell and cut brass inlaid case surmounted by a seated gilded putti, above a glazed door opening to gilt dial with enamel roman numeral tablets, the inside of the rear door finely inlaid. The eight day Samuel Marti movement, numbered 642, with Brocot suspension, rack striking the hour & half hour on a gong. The whole with gilt bronze mounts, regilded.
