A late 19th century, Continental, Meissen style porcelain floral & figural four seasons clock. The clockcase of rocaille form and applied all over with flowers, surmounted by a putto emblematic of Autumn, the base with three putti emblematic of the other seasons, on three C-scroll feet. The eight day Lenzkirch movement rack striking the hour & half hour on a bell, the enamel dial with blue Roman numerals. Restoration to Winter’s leg and petals.

An unusual pair of Regency patinated bronze and ormolu candlesticks of boat shape. The bronze boat shaped body with removable central finial flanked by flame cast sconces, the base with acanthus leaves supported by a turned parcel gilt socle. Retaining most of the original gilding.

A late 19th century, French Regence style rosewood, tulipwood crossbanded and ormolu mounted four drawer commode of small size. The original shaped marmo di Brescia marble top with moulded edge above four graduated oak lined drawers, with heavy leafy cast brass handles, flanked by brass fluted rounded corners and book veneered sides. The locks stamped ‘V.F’ for Vachette Freres, they first used this stamp in 1874.

The circular marble top with gilded border above a frieze mounted with swags of flowers hung between ribbons, standing on four turned fluted tapering legs ending in sabots. The frieze mounts stamped to the reverse ‘FB’.

A late 19th century mahogany, rosewood and tulipwood cross banded display cabinet. The stepped top above a break front with a pair of glazed doors flanked by single doors with glazed sides and enclosing a refined interior with adjustable glass shelves. The whole raised on square section tapering legs with spade feet.

T Cox Savory Paris
A Napoleon III red Boulle and ormolu mounted mantel clock in the Louis XV style. Of waisted form the shaped case with allover cut brass and tortoiseshell marquetry, mounted with finely cast and chased gilt bronze. The eight day movement with Brocot suspension, rack striking the hour and half hour on a gong. The circular gilt dial with enamel Roman numeral tablets marking the hours. Movement and case numbered 7059.
Primarily a retailer and silversmith, Thomas Cox Savory is recorded at 47 Cornhill, London in 1838 when he exhibited in his front window a mystery clock by Robert-Houdin. Loomes records him there 1851-1857 and also as having premises in Paris from the mid to late 19th Century.

A late 19th century bronze figure of ‘Diane De Gabies’ cast by F Barbedienne, after the antique marble in the Louvre. The figure, standing by a tree stump, dressed in a chiton bound by two belts, pinning her cloak with her right hand. Original dark brown patination. Signed to base ‘F. Barbedienne’ with impressed seal to back plinth. Typical ink numbering to base relating to price and inventory numbers.
Barbedienne produced this model in 9 sizes, this being the third largest. Catalogued as ‘DIANE DE GABIES rajustant sa chlamyde’, (adjusting her cloak).

The serpentine shaped Breche Violette marble top with gilt rim, above a curvilinear frieze standing on four slender cabriole legs, mounted with finely chased gilt bronze by Maison Mottheau et fils. The initials ‘EM’ stamped to the reverse of each frieze & leg mount.

A late 19th century, Victorian, satinwood and marquetry inlaid satinwood cabinet on stand of small proportions. The moulded cornice above an inlaid frieze with a pair of astragal glazed doors below enclosing a polished shelved interior flanked by glazed sides. The base with a bowed front and inlaid urn detail, above a single mahogany lined drawer supported by four tapering square legs ending in spade feet and united by a shaped stretcher. The drawer stamped “Edwards & Roberts’.
