Antique Barbedienne Diane De Gabies

A late 19th century bronze figure of ‘Diane De Gabies’ cast by F Barbedienne, after the antique marble in the Louvre. The figure, standing by a tree stump, dressed in a chiton bound by two belts, pinning her cloak with her right hand. Original dark brown patination. Signed to base ‘F. Barbedienne’ with impressed seal to back plinth. Typical ink numbering to base relating to price and inventory numbers.

Barbedienne produced this model in 9 sizes, this being the third largest. Catalogued as ‘DIANE DE GABIES rajustant sa chlamyde’, (adjusting her cloak).
