Antique Pair of Ormolu Marble Cassolettes

A pair of late 19th century, French, marble & ormolu mounted cassolettes in the Louis XVI style. The domed lid with pinatum finial reversing to reveal a single sconce, the ovoid body with triform supports headed with rams heads, the sides hung with floral swags, standing on a turned marble socle with beaded border. Retaining the original gilding.

Antique Maison Majorelle Kingwood & Ormolu Pedestal

Maison Majorelle (Louis) (1859-1926)
A fine quality kingwood, rosewood and ormolu mounted pedestal in the Louis XV revival style. The original breche d’alep marble top, with a pedestal base fronted by a ‘Vernis Martin’ cartouche, the sides with parquetry cartouches, above elongated cabriole legs united by a platform base with a bevelled mirror inset to the back. The whole dressed in rococo ormolu mounts, each marked ‘LM’ from the master moulds.

Antique Fine Pair Louis XV Style 19th Century Marble & Gilt Bronze Mounted Urns

An impressive pair of late 19th century Louis XV style, French, gilt bronze mounted  ‘breccia di serravezza antica’ marble urns and covers of impressive size. The circular lids with pomegranate finials, above turned marble waisted bodies flanked by acanthus scrolling handles issuing bulrushes, the rococo rim centred by a water leaf. Standing on turned socles with gilt bronze plinth bases.

Antique French Bronze Bust of Pierre Corneille

A Charles X French bronze bust of Pierre Corneille, standing on a square Sienna marble plinth with ormolu acanthus leaf decorated stepped plinth base.
Pierre Corneille (1606-1684) was a French tragedian. He is generally considered one of the three great 17th century French dramatists, along with Moliere & Racine.

Antique Pair of Bronze Mounted Marble Urns

A fine pair of mid 19th century, French, marble urns mounted in bronze and ormolu. The griotte rouge turned marble urns with flared rims, mounted to each side with a scroll handle, standing on a bronze flared socle with stepped marble plinth bases. The front recessed panel mounted with an intricately cast ormolu frieze, centred by a medusa mask, and supported by ormolu bun feet.
