A George IV gilt wood pier mirror by John Zenone. The original mercury silvered plate, with bevelled edges, flanked by split turned pilasters, the top and base with carved acanthus and shell decorated panels under a moulded cornice with canon ball decorated frieze.

Antique Pair of French Ormolu & Marble Cassolettes

A pair of Napoleon III ormolu and carrera marble Cassolettes. The ovoid bodies with removable lids inverting to a candle sconce, supported by triform uprights with Rams heads and hoof feet standing on a circular stepped base with twisted laurel wreath friezes and toupee feet. Retaining their original gilding, worn in places.

Antique Grand Tour Bronze Arc de Triomphe Luxor Obelisk & Vendome Column

A very good group of three gilt bronze Grand Tour models of the ‘Arc de Triomphe’, ‘Luxor Obelisk’ & ‘Vendome Column’ from the mid 19th century. The ‘Arc de Triomphe’ with central rising lid, and finely cast copper relief panels. Each finely modelled, standing on a black marble base, the columns with pierced fence detail.

Antique Bronze Figure Caesar Augustus

Mid 19th century Italian bronze figure of Caesar Augustus, supported by a turned marble socle. The figure is modelled after the Antique discovered in 1863 in Prima Porta, Rome.

Augustus was the adopted son of Julius Caesar. He became emperor in 27 BC. This statue represents the Emperor in armour, with a cupid on his right side sitting on a dolphin. On his breastplate is represented the historical scene of the restitution of an emblem lost by Crassus in 54 BC, at the Battle of Carrhae. This emblem was subsequently placed in the temple of Mars the Avenger in the Forum of Augustus.

A George IV rosewood and cut brass inlaid pier table. The original rectangular ‘Gris Sainte-Anne’ marble top above a narrow frieze inlaid with brass, supported by a pair of columns to the front, the back with a mirror plate, standing on a shaped plinth base.

A mid 19th century, Victorian, kingwood, tulipwood & marquetry inlaid side table in Louis XV transitional style. The shaped top with a central walnut panel surround by marquetry, finely inlaid with foliage and bullrushes, finished with a wide kingwood cross banding. The base with a single locking frieze drawer standing on four slender cabriole legs. The whole embellished with fine ormolu mounts. Mounts regilded.

A French, rosewood and tulipwood marquetry inlaid work/writing table. The serpentine shaped top sliding to reveal a fitted drawer enclosing writing surface, lifting to a fitted interior with mirror, the shaped sides above a sliding wool basket, supported by four scrolling legs united by a platform stretcher. The whole dressed in ormolu. Mounts regilded.

Antique pair of Barbedienne bronzes of ‘Hippomene ‘ & ‘Atalante’

A pair of late 19th century figures of ‘Hippomene ‘ & ‘Atalante’ cast by Barbedienne. Each figure in expressive pose, standing on a ring turned verde antique marble base. Original dark brown patination, each signed to base.

Cast after the marbles situated in the ‘Jardin des Tuileries’, and shown in the Bardedienne catalogue of 1886. The size of each is ‘Plus Petite No 5′.

Antique Grand Tour Bronze of the Place Vendôme Column

A mid 19th century patinated bronze model of the Place Vendôme column. The figure of Napoleon standing atop the spiralling column with square black slate base. Minor chips to base.

The original column was started in 1806 at Napoleon’s direction to celebrate the victory of Austerlitz, and completed in 1810. The spiralling column is covered in 425 bas-relief bronze plates constructed out of cannons taken from the combined armies of Europe.
