A late 19th / early 20th century, Austrian, bronzed figure of ‘Andromeda chained to the rocks’. The classically draped figure of Andromeda standing with one foot raised, her wrists with golden handcuffs chained to a striated natural piece of onyx. Brown patination with parcel gilding.

Alexandre Destape Palais Royal

A fine French gilt bronze portico clock from the 1st half of the 19th century, in the Empire style. The stepped rectangular pediment with dentil moulded cornice above four columns standing on a plinth base, the dial with an ormolu engine turned centre and enamel chapter ring with roman numerals, above a figure of a winged cupid holding a torch aloft. The friezes with finely cast and chased decoration in original matt & burnished gilding. The eight day movement with a bimetallic grid pendulum, striking the hour & half hour on a bell, via an outside countwheel, numbered M 309. Minor crazing to enamel chapter ring.

A late 19th century, French, bronze figure of ‘Diane a la Biche’ (Chasseresse), cast by Barbedienne after the antique marble in the Louvre museum. Dark brown patination. Signed ‘F Barbedienne’ to reverse, with foundry seal. The Barbedienne catalogue lists this bronze in 6 sizes, this is the smallest size cast.

A French, Napoleon III, rosewood and ormolu mounted table vitrine by Henri Picard. The rectangular rising lid with bevelled glass centre and ormolu rim, opening to a relined interior with four glazed sides, standing on slender cabriole legs ending in gilt sabots. Gilt bronze mounts stamped ‘HP’ to the reverse for Henri Picard. Retaining the original gilding. Lock stamped ‘AV☆ PARIS’.

Antique Mahogany Vernis Martin Ormolu Wall Cabinet

Attributed to Francois Linke

A late 19th century, French, mahogany and ormolu mounted wall cabinet. The central rectangular vernis martin panelled door enclosing a mahogany shelved interior, flanked by a small pair of curved glazed display cases, above three concealed frieze drawers. The stepped top with pierced gilt metal galleries. Of fine quality this cabinet possesses all the hallmarks of Linke’s craftsmanship. Many of the mouldings can be seen on signed works by this master.

Probably formerly the upper half of a cabinet.

A pair of Napoleon III gilt bronze and Vert Maurin marble cassolettes. The marble tops with acorn finials inverting to a candle sconce, above an ovoid body hung with floral swags and rams head masks, standing on circular plinths with beaded decoration. Retaining the original gilding. The gilt floral swags cast by Christofle et Cie.
