The scrolling candle arms issuing from a central removable vase stem, the triform base with floral swags standing on a moulded marble plinth base mounted with roundels and eagle headed acanthus panels. Antique 19th Century Grand Tour Bronze Marble Medici Vases

An impressive pair of ‘Grand Tour’ Continental patinated bronze & parcel gilded Medici vases standing on stepped Belgium marble plinth bases. The finely cast vases with bands of classical figures, flanked by loop handles rising from satyr masks, and standing on fluted spreading socles. The marble bases mounted with Medusa masks and supported by cast bronze feet. Retaining the wonderful parcel gilding and brown patination.

Of unusual shape, the glazed top opening to a relined blue velvet interior with a mirror to the back and glazed sides & front, standing on four tapering square section legs ending in substantial ormolu sabots. Mounts regilded. Labelled to interior E. Mougin.

Mellier & Co Ormolu Mounted Desk after Reisner

Mellier & Co

A late 19th century, French, ormolu mounted parquetry inlaid desk after Jean-Henri Reisner by Mellier & co. In the Louis XVI style, the raised superstructure topped with marble & a pierced gallery, above pigeon holes flanked by small drawers. The base with a replaced leather writing surface, above three frieze drawers and standing on four square tapering legs, ending in ormolu sabots. Pencil inscription to the interior ‘Manufactured 1885’.

French born, Charles Mellier moved to England, worked for, and eventually took over the illustrious Aglo-French cabinet makers Monbro and Company, circa 1880. Working from Frith Street and later Margaret Street, he soon became a major force in designing and making furniture, and executing grand decorative schemes. The company furnished the great cross-Atlantic liner Mauretania and exhibited at the 1904 International Exhibition in St Louis.

After The Antique Diana De Gabies by Barbedienne

A late 19th century bronze figure of ‘Diane De Gabies’ cast by F Barbedienne, after the antique marble in the Louvre. The figure, standing by a tree stump, dressed in a chiton bound by two belts, pinning her cloak with her right hand. Original dark brown patination. Signed to base ‘F. Barbedienne’. Standing on a rectangular Belgian marble plinth.

Barbedienne produced this model in 9 sizes, this being the quarter size model. Catalogued as ‘DIANE DE GABIES rajustant sa chlamyde’, (adjusting her cloak).

A fine quality Belle Epoque period mahogany & ormolu mounted vitrine of Louis XVI inspiration. The replaced calacatta risotto marble top above a bevelled glazed breakfront cabinet, the central door opening to a glass shelved interior with mirrored back, the frieze mounted with acanthus scrolls and centred with a bacchic mask, supported by six turned fluted legs ending in toupee feet and mounted with garrya husk drops. Mounts regilded.

French Louis XV Style Boulle Clock

A late 19th century, French, cut brass inlaid red tortoiseshell mantel clock in the Louis XV style. The red tortoiseshell and cut brass inlaid case surmounted by a floral urn, the sunburst pendulum visible through the glazed panel, the bevelled glass front opening to gilt dial with enamel Roman numeral tablets. The eight day movement, numbered 45279, rack striking the hour & half hour on a gong. The whole dressed with bronze mounts. Back plate & pendulum marked ‘A&N 45279 Paris’.

Antique Grand Tour Bronze Augustus Caesar

A late 19th century Italian bronze figure of Augustus Caesar, standing and rotating on a turned marble socle base. The figure is modelled after the Antique discovered in 1863 in Prima Porta, Rome.

Augustus was the adopted son of Julius Caesar. He became emperor in 27 BC. This statue represents the Emperor in armour, with a cupid on his right side sitting on a dolphin. On his breastplate is represented the historical scene of the restitution of an emblem lost by Crassus in 54 BC, at the Battle of Carrhae. This emblem was subsequently placed in the temple of Mars the Avenger in the Forum of Augustus.

Antique Pair of Japanese Enamel Vases Table Lamps

A large pair of late 19th century Japanese cloisonné enamel & ormolu mounted oil lamp vases now converted to table lamps. The body decorated with ho-ho birds amongst autumnal foliage, flanked by ormolu dragon handles, the upper shoulders with a dark ground depicting shish dogs playing amongst lotus. The top and base mounted with ormolu. Regilded. Professional rewired.
