A pair of French gilt bronze candlestick, in the Louis XVI style. Each cast as three putti standing back to back, holding bunches of grapes, supporting a single cast candle sconce with drip pan, and supported by a well cast and chased stepped circular base . Retaining the original gilding. Stamped ‘H’ to underside.

Antique Napoleon III Boulle Tortoiseshell & Ormolu Mounted Clock

A Napoleon III ormolu mounted cut brass and tortoiseshell boulle bracket clock in the Louis XIV style. The shaped pediment mounted with finials, above an arched glazed door enclosing a gilt face with enamel tablets and blue Roman numerals. The case inlaid with fine cut brass and mounted with ormolu. The eight day movement with count wheel striking the hour & half hour on a bell. Mounts regilded.

Antique Grand Tour Bronze Spinario Boy with Thorn

A late 19th century ‘Grand Tour’, Continental, bronze figure of the seated ‘Spinario’. The figure of a boy withdrawing a thorn from his foot, dark brown patination & standing on a turned ebonised plinth.
Also known as ‘Fedelino’ or ‘Boy with Thorn’, the original Greco-Roman Hellenistic bronze sculpture is in the Palazzo die Conservatori, Rome. There is also a Roman marble version in the Medici collection, Florence.

French Bronze ‘Fame Riding Pegasus’ After Coysevox

A Louis-Philippe period bronze figure of ‘Fame riding Pegasus’ after Antoine Coysevox (1640-1720). The winged Pegasus supporting Fame, a trumpet in her hand, on a naturalistic base adorned with gilded trophies of war. The stepped plinth base with acanthus scroll feet. Finely cast and chased with original mercury parcel gilding and dark patination.

Antoine Coysevox received a commission in 1698 for a group of two equestrian subjects to the glory of the king. These were made in Carrara marble in 1701-2, and placed on either side of the upper part of the horse pond, at the entrance to the park at Marly. They were moved to the west entrance of the Tuileries Gardens in 1719, where they were replaced by replicas in 1986.

Antique George IV Rosewood Canterbury

A George IV rosewood boat shaped Canterbury. Of rectangular form with four divisions and pierced carrying handle, the ring turned uprights with turned finials, a mahogany lined drawer to the frieze raised on turned supports with original brass caps and castors. Turned rosewood pulls to drawer.
