Susse Freres

A pair of late 19th century, French, Carrrera marble and gilt bronze mounted urns. Each urn with pinatum finial, above a pierced rim and ovoid body, flanked by acanthus and floral swag handles, supported by a turned socle and square plinth with canted corners. Fine original mercury gilding to mounts.

Signed ‘Susses Fres’ & stamped ‘Bronze’ to the handles.

French Inlaid Card Table

A fine quality late 19th century, French, oeil de vemeil (padouk) card table, possibly by Francois Linke. The rectangular top veneered with padouk and kingwood crossbandings, bordered by inlaid flowers, opening to reveal the original countersunk baize lined interior. The base with panelled frieze inlaid with floral panels and supported by four, rosewood, fluted turned legs ending in toupie feet. The rear legs pulling out to reveal card drawer and support for top. Original gilding to mounts.

Boulle Mantel Clock

Samuel Marti et Cie

A Napoleon III boulle mantel clock. The red tortoiseshell and cut brass inlaid case surmounted by a seated gilded putti, above a glazed door opening to gilt dial with enamel roman numeral tablets, the inside of the rear door finely inlaid. The eight day Samuel Marti movement, numbered 642, with Brocot suspension, rack striking the hour & half hour on a gong. The whole with gilt bronze mounts, regilded.

A late 19th century, French, walnut, kingwood crossbanded and gilt bronze mounted table ambulante. The oval grey marble top above a scrolling frieze of gilt bronze flowers, with a single oak lined drawer below enclosing the original silk lining to base, supported by four slender cabriole legs united by curved stretchers with finial.

Gillows Pollard Oak Davenport

Gillows of Lancaster.

A George IV, ‘Gillows’, pollard oak davenport. The rectangular slope with replaced leather writing surface, and three quarter turned spindle gallery, opening to reveal a pair of real drawers over two dummy drawers enclosing pen & ink drawer opening to the side. The right hand side with three graduated mahogany lined drawers, below twin folio slides, with dummy en verso, the front and back centred by panels, standing on turned and reeded bun feet with concealed castors. Retaining the original Brahmah locks and turned ebony handles to the drawers. Stamped four times to the underside ‘Gillows’.

A fine pair of late 19th century, French, patinated bronze figures. The figure of the 14th century scholar standing with the Bible tucked under his arm, his left hand holding a lantern, a sword hanging from his waist and standing on a circular naturalistic base with title plaque to front. The 13th Century Archer standing arming his bow, a fletcher of arrows to his back, standing on a naturalistic circular base with title plaque to front.

French Directoire Gilt Bronze & Marble Mantel Clock

An early 19th century, French, gilt bronze and marble mantel clock. The carrera marble body containing a circular enamel dial with roman numerals, a figure of Fidelity stands to one side with cupid floating on clouds to the other, his bow and arrows at his feet, between them sits a spaniel. The dial hung with a swag of roses, above a platform base with entwined leafy panels and toupie feet.  Retaining the original mercurial gilding. The eight day movement with silk suspension striking the hour and half hour, via an outside count wheel, on a bell.
