A pair of mid Victorian marquetry inlaid armchairs possibly by Jackson & Graham. Of the finest quality the frames inlaid with trailing leaves cut from woods including amboyna, purpleheart, snakewood and ebony. The reupholstered back with marquetry border above a sprung seat flanked by downs wept acanthus inlaid arms, supported by four turned and fluted legs headed by circular paterae.
The seat rails with pencil inscriptions ‘GHJ’. The back rails with four pins possibly where a trade label once was placed.
